In Terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, the Pressure Equipment Regultaions require LP Gas installers to undergo specific training and are registered with the South African Qualification and Certification Committee (SAQCCGas) on behalf of the Department of Labour.

Registered installers are issued with an identity card bearing their photograph. The card also carries their name and grade i.e. Domestic, Commercial, Industrial or Auto. Consumers are strongly advised to ask the installer to present their card before allowing work to commence. Installers are required to issue a completion certificate and to instruct the user in the safe operation of the installed appliance(s) before handing over the installation.

The LPGSASA has established an Installer Division to which registered installers may belong. Unlike the registration process administered by the SAQCC, membership of the Installer Division is voluntary. It does not replce the requiremnt of regisrtaion with and licencing by the SAQCC, but encourages active participation with the Association and industry

When looking for an installer in your area, use the Gas Practitioner database search function for convenience. Where an installer is listed under a company, the initial approach is normally to contact the company. It is for that reason that only the company telephone number is given. It is best to ask the company to supply you with a registered installer.
Where an installer is listed as an Independent Contractor it is in order to contact such people directly and therefore both office and cellphone contact numbers are listed (where provided).
If in any doubt as to the credentials of an installer first refer to the Installer database and if you are still unsure contact our office on (011) 886 9702.
