The Safe Appliance Scheme

As the secretariat, the LP Gas Safety Association will issue an LP Gas Verification Permit to the manufacturer/importer of appliances/hoses and regulators that have been tested by an approved Test House as being compliant with relevant SABS Standard. This permit and the subsequent registration of the appliance is issued by the LP Gas Safety Association in the interests of a safer South Africa. There is a nominal fee of R500 (+VAT) for each permit.

Natural Gas Appliances Testing and Safe Appliance Permits

In terms of a Memorandum of Understanding between the LP Gas Safety Association and The South African Pipeline Gas Association, with the endorsement of the department of Labour. The LP Gas Safety Association will issue Natural Gas Verification Permit/s to the manufacturer/importer of appliances that have been tested by an approved Test House as being compliant with relevant SABS Standard. SAPGA will issue permits for Industrial Natural Gas equipment and LP Gas Industrial equipment according to the Pressure Equipment Regulations.
