Natural Gas Appliances Scheme

Please note that the scope of the current LPGSASA Safe Appliance Scheme has been expanded to include Natural gas domestic and commercial appliances through an MOU with The South African Pipeline Gas Association, endorsed by the Department of Labour.

The South African Pipeline Gas Association has introduced the Safe Gas Equipment Scheme which includes industrial Natural Gas equipment and LP Gas industrial equipment. For more information please visit: www.sapga.co.za

As per the PER LP Gas installations and Natural Gas will require a registered gas practitioner to indicate and certify on the Certificate of Conformance (COC) that the equipment installed has been formally verified to SABS SANS standards and is safe for use.

For more information please read our technical bulletin by clicking here:

In order to facilitate the process the Safe Appliance Committee have already identified the specific tests and standards involved and have completed the testing on some Natural Gas appliances. At the end of 2009 the first Natural Gas permits were issued. There is therefore no need to wait until the amended standard has been published before submitting products for testing.

If you are in the market to supply Natural gas products then please start the process now and get your appliance verified.
